Abstract: the GREEN-MID-PLACE project aims to develop an eco-sustainable Organ-on-Chip (OoC) platform for stem cell growth and differentiation. The focus is on utilizing bio-based polymers and environmentally friendly fabrication techniques. The OoC design involves a microfluidic platform optimized for human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSC) and endothelial cells, using a biopolymeric scaffold. One of the primary goals of this project is to streamline production processes, conserve energy, and mitigate contamination concerns through the implementation of innovative deposition approaches. The leadership of the Prof. D’Amore’s group in designing the microfluidic platform through CFD analysis significantly enhances the potential of GREEN-MID-PLACE to propel advancements in biomedical research and treatment methodologies.
