9/29/2017 European Researchers’ Night

starting from 7:30 PM at Orto Botanico, Palermo

Ri.MED and ISMETT together at the European Researchers’ Night

In the suggestive venue of the Botanical Garden in Palermo, young and less young people had the chance to learn- and to have fun- with a tour from micro to macro within the human body. The Ri.MED researchers Salvatore Pasta, Ugo Perricone, Giovanna Frazziano and Chiara Cipollina and the ISMETT cardiologist Diego Bellavia conducted the lab “ZOOM: Discovering What We Do not Expect“.

Three-dimensional molecule models, a cell fluorescence microscope, and a physiological model of the aorta, these the equipment used to discover the secrets of the human body, starting from the role of the molecules in the proper functioning of the cells and organs until the secrets of the human heart.

The joint participation of Ri.MED and ISMETT is particularly significant/ meaningful: last July Ri.MED joined the governance of ISMETT IRCCS creating an important integration between biomedical research and patient care in Sicily, and that it will become an important model of a research center integrated with a highly specialized hospital in Italy.

The European Researchers’ Night is a Europe-wide public event dedicated to popular science and fun learning. It takes place every year on the last Friday in September, where around 30 countries and over 300 cities are involved. Every year hundreds of events take place simultaneously in Europe: this year all the events took place simultaneously on Friday 29 September.
