A cycle of scientific seminars organized by the Ri.MED Foundation to bring here in Palermo some excellent names from the international scenario.
The cycle of seminars will continue until the end of the year. The focus of the seminar will cover the various areas of Ri.MED research. For each seminar, experts from the international scientific community, will be invited to present their cutting-edge results in science.
The first Ri.MED Research Seminar took place on Wednesday 22 March 2023 at 3:30 PM at IRCCS ISMETT:
“Engineering Strategies for Structural Heart Disease” by Arash Kheradvar, Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Medicine, University of California.
Dr. Kheradvar’s research is focused on cardiovascular engineering with emphasis on cardiac mechanics, cardiac imaging and cardiovascular devices. Some of the projects at his lab are: design and development of artificial heart valves (either surgical or percutaneous), multiscale modeling of congenital heart disease, development of a 3D Echo Particle Image Velocimetry system for assessment of right ventricle and devising new non-invasive indices for quantitative evaluation of diastolic dysfunction.
