Biographical notes
After the scientific High School, I devoted myself to the Information Technologies’ field, because of the flexible skills I would have developed. However, after graduating with honours in Information Technologies and Telecommunication engineering from the University of Palermo, I realized that my true vocation was in healthcare and so I decided to reorient my knowledge to this realm, attending a master’s degree course in Biomedical engineering at the same University.
Furthermore, during my curricular internship, hosted by Ri.MED Foundation, I developed technical skills in pre-processing and analysis of neuro-images like MRI, fMRI and PET. Currently, I am attending a Ph.D course in Information Technology for Biomedicine at Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, in partnership with Ri.MED Foundation.
Scientifical activity
The main scientific areas I am interested in range from image processing and analysis, especially when dealing with biomedical scans in the neurological field, to the statistical analysis of physiological signals; from artificial intelligence to radiomic analysis. I contributed to scientific projects both in the preclinical and clinical fields, aiming at supporting the medical decision process through the development of personalized diagnostic and/or prognostic models.
My research activity does not restrict only to the usage of available commercial software, but it mainly concerns with software development of novel algorithms, primarily written in C, C++, Matlab or Python. In particular, the Ph.D course I am attending revolves around the study and implementation of Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques for biomedical image processing.
